    About 3 months ago I decided to turn off the alarm and wake up naturally. In doing this I am averaging 10 to 12 hours sleep a night and wake up feeling refreshed and alert. At 75 years old I no longer “need” to be up by a certain time and decided to take advantage of that.

      Excellent. Sleep quantity and quality are very important. You have discovered the necessity and benefit with your own sleep experiment! According to research you will reap additional benefits of that change!
